WIC is here to help you! For questions regarding breastfeeding support programs, or how to become a peer counselor, please email us at info@breastfeedingpartners.org.

To locate a WIC Agency in New York State, or for questions on any other WIC matter, please call the Growing Up Healthy Hotline at 1-800-522-5006.

With one call to the Growing Up Healthy Hotline, you can find the WIC Agency nearest to you, get information on WIC programs and services, and speak to trained staff members who can help answer all of your questions. Don’t hesitate, call the Growing Up Healthy Hotline today!

Do I Qualify?
If you are pregnant, have just had a baby, are breastfeeding or have a child under the age of five, WIC might be able to help you.

WIC is for all kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working. If you are a father, mother, grandparent or other legal guardian of a child under five, you can apply for your child.

You may qualify if you are:

  • pregnant
  • a breastfeeding mother (up to 12 months post partum)
  • a post partum women (up to 6 months)
  • an infant (birth to 12 months)
  • a child under the age of five
  • have a nutritional need (WIC can help you determine this)
  • income eligible (household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level)
  • living in the state where you receive WIC benefits

Visit my benefits.ny.gov for a quick and easy way to find answers to questions about WIC and other New York State programs and services you may be eligible for. By entering household information, you will receive a list of programs for which you may be eligible.

Do you live in New York City? Visit Access NYC to identify and screen for over 30 City, State and Federal Human Service benefit programs, this service is available in many different languages.

How do I Apply?
It's easy, contact your State or local agency to set up an appointment or call the Growing Up Healthy Hotline at 1-800-522-5006 to locate an agency nearest to you.

You will be asked to bring several items to your first appointment:

  • Proof of residency
  • Proof of income
  • Identification
  • Medical Documentation
  • Your infant or child under the age of five
